Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste was adopted to harmonize national measures concerning the management of packaging and packaging waste and to prevent or reduce its impact on the environment. This Directive was amended by Directive 2015/720 as regards reducing the consumption of lightweight plastic carrier bags.
