Toy Industries of Europe (TIE), along with other 18 organisations representing consumer facing industries, calls on EU policymakers to develop harmonised regulations for digital labelling that benefit both consumers and the industry.
Currently, toy manufacturers are required to display a large amount of information on their packaging including safety warnings, environmental information, and multilingual instructions. This often results in overcrowded or unnecessarily large packaging. While crucial information like safety warnings should remain on the physical package, moving other details to digital formats could help manufacturers reduce packaging and simplify compliance. Consumers would also benefit from easy access to comprehensive and up-to date details.
