BRUSSELS, Belgium 31 March 2021: Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) has officially opened the call for entries for its 2021 Play for Change Awards, building on last year’s well-received first edition

The Play for Change Awards celebrate toy makers developing toys and company practices that help kids confidently navigate the world around them in ways that show respect for themselves, for others and the planet.

As well as the main categories of sustainability, empowerment and future skills, a Covid-19 Special Commendation will be awarded this year. The commendation will recognise toy companies who responded to the pandemic with actions to support children and the wider community.

The call for entries is open from 31 March – 19 May 2021 and the winners will be announced in September. The Awards are open to toy companies of all sizes, and smaller companies are especially encouraged to take part.

Director General of TIE, Catherine Van Reeth says “Toy companies today are innovating beyond the product and thinking about the impact their company has on kids’ futures and the planet. TIE’s Play for Change Awards celebrate inspirational companies of all sizes who are leading the way for the toy sector”.

About Toy Industries of Europe

Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) is the voice of the reputable toy manufacturers in Europe. The association, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, was founded in 1991 to represent the interests of its members to EU policymakers in Brussels and further afield. TIE provides information for stakeholders, members and policymakers and provide a neutral platform for discussion and exchange. Our mission is to promote the right of every child to play safely and securely and to promote fair practices and fair legislation, allowing responsible toy companies to continue to grow.

TIE decided to create the Play for Change Awards in 2020 to recognise the inspirational efforts across the sector to champion children’s empowerment, future skills and a more sustainable future. Information about last year’s winners can be found here: https://playforchangeawards.eu/winners/
