TIE calls for swift ratification of EU-Mercosur trade agreement

The Agreement will provide new export opportunities for European toy makers. European toy manufacturers export for more than €20 million of toys per year to the four Mercosur members (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay). The agreement would do away with most of the import tariffs of the Mercosur countries which are among the highest in the world for toys. Additionally, it includes enforceable commitments on workers’ rights and environmental protection and measures to improve sustainability.

To facilitate the international trade in toys, TIE supports the swift ratification of the EU-Mercosur Agreement along with 12 other EU business associations.
